LA Tri Club Pizza Port Ride - Anaheim to Solana Beach
Availability: In Stock

Price: $55.00

Thanks to the hard work & dedication of the LA Tri Club Cycling Events volunteers & staff, we will be kicking off another fantastic SAG-supported long ride on Saturday November 15th - Anaheim to Solana Beach!
⭐⭐ Course Overview ⭐⭐
1️⃣ The first segment will take you on the Santa Ana River bike path to the south end of Huntington Beach. It's a good time to warm up, so take it easy.
2️⃣ The second segment is a long stretch on PCH. Please be cautious when riding on PCH, as some sections may not have a designated bike lane. Furthermore, watch for traffic making left- and right-hand turns into an active lane; don't expect that you will be turning into a bike lane. Please ride in groups for safety reasons.
3️⃣ In the third segment from San Onofre, you are on the old highway. Although you are safe from traffic, watch out for ruts, potholes, and wild animals.
4. The fourth segment takes you on the shoulder of I-5. BE EXTRA CAUTIOUS here as you are riding close to traffic going at excessive speeds. Stay as far to the right as possible. Watch out for debris (tire treads) and ride single file so you are not close to the active lane.

5. In the fifth and final segment, you are back on PCH, similar to section 2, but much safer. Don't let your guard down!

WHAT TO EXPECT
We are budgeting 9 hours for this 78-mile ride from Anaheim to Solana Beach. You must average 8.67 mph, including stops and aid stations. This ride is doable for most cyclists. We want you to average at least 11 mph, so you will have 2 hours to eat, drink, and relax before catching the train ride home. For those attempting the century to La Jolla and back, please arrive in Solana Beach in 5 hours, approx. noon. This will allow us 4 hours to ride to La Jolla at a comfortable pace. (26 miles, 1.8K vert) DO NOT ride to La Jolla past 1pm!

Once you arrive at Solana Beach, we will have a U-Haul where we will load your bike for the trip home.

FEES:
LA Tri Club members will pay $25 (which includes your bike transport, aid stations, and access to the bike mechanic).

Non-members must sign a liability waiver (no exceptions) and will pay $55 (and must pay prior to the start of the ride). Contact hello@latriclub.com for more info.
