How did you hear about LA Tri Club?

My dad was a member back in his triathlon days so I heard lots of good things about LA Tri Club!

What got you interested in triathlon?

Growing up watching my dad compete in the Malibu Tri each year made me want to try it out someday. It seemed like a great vibe on race morning and a fun way to challenge myself.

What was your first Triathlon (or the first one you might be training for currently)?

I competed in the Herbalife24 LA Tri this past May and while my transitions were slow, I was faster on the bike than I expected. I didn’t prep for the course though, so I got a nice surprise on the slight uphill at the beginning of the run. The feeling at the finish line was incredible, as were the vibes all day and the post-race recovery shakes.

What is your favorite race and why?

I guess the Herbalife

If you could pick three MUST HAVES / MUST DO'S on race day morning, what are they?

Coffee (maybe even as little as a half cup, just something to get me out the door), a nice chilly bike ride to the transition area, and catching a wave or two bodysurfing before lining up to start.

Have you been to any LATC events so far?

I’ve been to one Friday swim so far and am looking forward to the legendary First Thursdays, Saturday bike rides, and maybe even a track workout or two :)

Do you have any plans for more races in the near future?

I’m planning to do the Malibu Tri this fall and then hopefully move up to some Olympic distance races next season.

What do you do outside of your training? For work, other sports, for fun, etc

I love surfing, playing music, barbecuing and baking whenever I can. I work as a software engineer am so grateful for how much easier remote work has made triathlon training.

What has been the most difficult thing for you personally about training for triathlons?

I’m not a morning person, but open water swimming and cycling are generally early morning activities, so it’s always hard getting back into the habit of dragging myself out of bed early.

Do you know anyone else that is currently a member of LATC? Not yet!
