Toughman 2012

TOUGHMAN is a USAT sanctioned 70.3 event open to all. This year marks the tenth anniversary of 9/11 and as such, a portion of every entry from this year's TOUGHMAN Triathlon will be donated to the Croton-Buchanan-Cortlandt 9/11 Memorial fund. A piece of steel from the Twin Towers will be part of a Memorial that will be erected at Croton Landing to commemorate those lost.

Croton Point Park - Croton-on-Hudson, NY Swim - The swim takes place in one of the most beautiful coves on the Hudson River. The Croton Point Park Beach is a naturaly protected harbor with water temperatures typically in the mid 80s. (Ed Note: I'm from NY and highly doubt the water will be that warm. )Wetsuits are allowed. Bike - The one loop bike course takes place in the Croton Reservoir Region of the Hudson Valley. The course is a mix of rolling hills and smooth flats. Some of the climbs though will require small chainring work. Run - The single loop run course travels north through the Croton River Valley until reaching Croton Dam Park. There you'll climb up to the Old Croton Aqueduct which will take you to the top of the Croton Dam. You'll run on the new out/back section of Croton Dam Road which is shaded and partly packed dirt. On the return, run across the dam spillway and shed minutes off your time running down Rt 129 back to the sactuary streets of Croton. The run course has a net elevation gain on the way out, which means a nice elevation loss for the return. So practice that leg turnover.
