ITU World Championship Series Sprint

On May 12-13, 2012, the birthplace of triathlon – San Diego, CA – will host the inaugural ITU World Championship Series San Diego Triathlon. Age group athletes have the chance to compete in Olympic and sprint distance races as well as in an Olympic distance relay in the same venue as the world’s best athletes. All age group races take place on Saturday, May 12.

The sprint distance features a 750m swim, a 20km bike and a 5km run. You may also choose to participate, if you qualify, in one of our challenges: Military Challenge, Collegiate Club Challenge, or 2012 USA Triathlon Club National Championships. There is no extra fee.

The age group sprint and Olympic distance races will serve as the 2012 USA Triathlon Club National Championships. Certified USA Triathlon Clubs are eligible to compete for one of five national titles based on the club's total membership size. The Club National Championship is scored based on individual age group performances in both the sprint and Olympic distance events. If an entrant is affiliated with an official USA Triathlon Club, a finish or top 10 showing in either the sprint or Olympic distance race will earn points for their club in the USA Triathlon Club National Championship competition.
