Debuting on the world stage in 2012, the IRONMAN Asia-Pacific Championship takes place in the sporting capital of Australia, Melbourne. With a swim start in Frankston, south of the city, the bike course incorporates the Eastlink Tollway, a world-class expressway closed exclusively for the use of competitors on race day. The iconic point to point run course commences at Frankston and concludes in St. Kilda, in the shadows of the skyline of Melbourne. 2014 Swim Course The first leg is a 3.8 kilometre swim located on the Frankston Foreshore near the developed Pier Promenade precinct. Spectators will enjoy the great viewing opportunities from the Frankston Pier as they head north before returning to the beach and into the Transition precinct at Pier Promenade. The northern section of the swim (north of the pier) will be made available for participants to have a practice swim on the Saturday morning prior to the event. 2014 Bike Course Presented by EastLink The 180km bike course is a two-lap course along the Eastlink Motorway between the transition area located at the Frankston Pier Promenade and the Springvale Road off ramp on Eastlink. The quality of the Eastlink road surface will again provide the fastest and highest quality racing conditions on the international IRONMAN circuit. 2014 BROOKS Run Course The Brooks Run course will be a 42.2km route from the transition area at Frankston and ending at the St Kilda foreshore, amongst the picturesque and spectator friendly Catani Gardens. Once at Mordialloc athletes will follow the beach pathway to St. Kilda taking in the waterfront sights. Athletes will run past the St Kilda Sea Baths towards the finish line located at the Catani Gardens. Athletes will enjoy passing through the twenty Aid Stations and two live sites, which are perfect for family and spectator viewing.
